Freshman

This song came on Pandora today while I was working emails at work.
Brought me back to a very specific memory.
There's something magical about freshman year.
I'm talking high school.
You think you're all that.
You think you're got the world figured out.
You're finally "old enough".
I have a very fond memory of this song.
I've probably only heard it once since this memory.
And today I heard it again.
It made me smile and want to hit repeat and have deja vu all over again.
So I thought I'd share.
I hope you have songs that brings back your fondest memories you thought you had forgotten.

When I was young I knew everything
And she a punk who rarely ever took advice
Now I'm guilt stricken, sobbing with my head on the floor
Stop a baby's breath and a shoe full of rice

I can't be held responsible
'Cause she was touching her face
I won't be held responsible
She fell in love in the first place

For the life of me I cannot remember
What made us think that we were wise and we'd never compromise
For the life of me I cannot believe we'd ever die for these sins
We were merely freshmen

My best friend took a week's vacation to forget her
His girl took a week's worth of valium and slept
And now he's guilt stricken sobbing with his head on the floor
Thinks about her now and how he never really wept he says

I can't be held responsible
'Cause she was touching her face
I won't be held responsible
She fell in love in the first place

For the life of me I cannot remember
What made us think that we were wise and we'd never compromise
For the life of me I cannot believe we'd ever die for these sins
We were merely freshman

We've tried to wash our hands of all of this
We never talk of our lacking relationships
And how we're guilt stricken sobbing with our heads on the floor
We fell through the ice when we tried not to slip, we'd say

I can't be held responsible
'Cause she was touching her face
And I won't be held responsible
She fell in love in the first place

For the life of me I cannot remember
What made us think that we were wise and we'd never compromise
For the life of me I cannot believe we'd ever die for these sins
We were merely freshman

For the life of me I cannot remember
What made us think that we were wise and we'd never compromise
For the life me of I cannot believe we'd ever die for these sins
We were merely freshman

We were merely freshman
We were only freshman

*The Verve Pipe*

Yeah, the song is a little strange.
But it brings back such a sweet, sweet memory.
The kind that makes you look people up on facebook to see what they're up to.
The kind that makes you thankful that you are actually "friends" with the person on facebook.
The kind that warms the heart and soul and puts a smile on your face.
My freshman year was... incredible.
Ups and downs and looking back I'm sure I was a wreck most of the time.
But there were definitely some bright spots.
I wouldn't want to go back, but reliving the memories... like with this song... that is worth it.

To all my old friends who I've grown out of contact with, I'm sorry.
I miss you.
You will always be in my heart.

To the two individuals who share the memory of this song with me, you are amazing.
I miss you more.
I wish you well.
