It is Thursday again. My favorite day of the week.
I finished two of the books I've been reading. I did some last minute babysitting for our neighbors who were in a tight squeeze. I made a delicious sandwich for lunch. I painted my nails- a horrible shade of peach that is best left to the toes, but still, they are no longer too long or chipped from the last manicure. I let Matt buy an expansion or something or other on the PS3. Speaking of which, we're all set to send in this machine and hopefully get another new one that will work for good. I snuggled with the kitten for awhile and she let me. I watched an episode from Planet Earth on Blu-ray. It's been an enjoyable morning and afternoon.
Tonight I am going out with friends for our weekly get together. Always a good time. I have been so blessed by this group of girls and I am so thankful they asked me to join them. I have been in need of good friends this past year and this came along just at the right time. We're going to Barnes and Noble tonight. I'll get the delicious pomegranate iced tea that's now a favorite. I'll check to see if they have the specific copy of Emma I want. I'll possibly buy a new portfolio with birthday money... but I'll probably wait on that one. I just love birthday money! So many options on what to spend it on! Yes, I'm glad we chose Barnes and Noble for tonight.
Tomorrow I'm going out in the morning to celebrate my birthday. Matthew has to work but that doesn't mean I have to stay home! I'll go shopping and try to spend all my money on absolutely unnecessary things. Splurge, in other words. That's what birthday money is for isn't it? Then I'll meet up with my fabulous friend, Kristin and we'll celebrate both of our birthdays together. Hers was a month ago... but she's been busy so we never had a chance to celebrate! Then Matthew will be home. Woot. Presents. Dinner. Dessert is a must on birthdays- hopefully Coldstone... unless there's some fabulous dessert at dinner I can't pass up. He says we're going to All Fired Up and he'll paint with me. I'm still deciding if I want to drag him along or not. And then of course, more presents! Mmm birthdays.
I hemmed three pairs of jeans. By hand with needle and thread and thimble. I know, be impressed. It'll be so much easier when I have a sewing machine, but that definitely isn't high on the priority list, not until we have children with holes in their pants every other day (if I'm lucky). I've been rolling the cuffs of practically all my jeans because I didn't want to pay to have them hemmed. Finally, I got fed up with it. I had hemmed two pairs of dress pants so it couldn't be that hard. I tucked up the extra fabric (in case I decide I like wearing heels again, not likely) and sewed around the edges at the top and bottom of the cuff. Looks so much better now than when they were folded over like a little child's. Yeah, I don't think I'm still growing. So my three most used pants will no longer be dragging on the ground and looking like I'm waiting for my last growth spurt to hit with folded over cuffs. Very nice. I have one more pair of jeans to hem and then my wardrobe will be nice and "short-ened". I really only ever wear five pairs of jeans. All different colors and styles, all from The Gap, and now all fitting perfectly. Yet, I have about 12 pairs of jeans total... plus all my dress pants, capris, and loungers. Yeah, I should go through and get rid of some of my off brand pants... but I always tell myself that I might wear them sometime. I'm sentimental about the silliest things. These other jeans I've had since high school... some of them since junior high! They still fit and they're still stylish... I just rarely wear them is all.
I'm going to be 22 tomorrow. Not so strange as other birthdays. It seems to fit. I'm ready. I'm not dreading it or overly excited for the new number. I'll probably say I'm 21 still for awhile though. I forget things like that often. I just wish it was 24 rather than 22. Then it would definitely be baby time! I want to have our first during my 24th year. Only two years away! Sigh.
Cheers.
