As two become three...

We got her! So incredibly excited!

I rushed home from work yesterday and pranced in the door. Matthew was all ready with the paperwork we needed for the Humane Society. We rushed over and rushed in the room where the cats are held. (a lot of rushing went into this adoption because we didn't want her to be snatched up! good thing too... explanation to follow) She was still there and I am positive she remembered us. She came right over to us when we peeked into her cage. We rushed to the front desk, dropped down the money, and carried her out. She is our baby now.

Meet Emily. She is beautiful. She has a beautiful coat of black with only a few random white hairs intermixed here and there. No patches of white though. She has the most beautiful green eyes, pictures don't do her justice. She is 5 months old and in excellent health. She is a little older than we had originally thought we wanted, but she is perfect. She is a light as a kitten and still pretty small for her age. She is super playful and loves to sit on our laps. She wasn't at all timid when we had her in the car and when we showed her around the house. She went right around exploring. She found her litter box and food and hasn't had a problem relating to either of those. We have been so blessed by finding a kitten who has a great personality, is already litter box trained and hasn't had one accident in a new environment, and has a good diet.

She doesn't favor either Matt or I but when we're all sitting on the couch she'll wander between us for pets. She is the perfect kitten for us. She is already learning her name and coming to us when we call her. She likes it under our bed, but when we lift up the dust ruffle and call her she'll come out to us. That's very nice since neither of us can fit under the bed! I was sitting on the couch tonight and wanted her to come snuggle but didn't want to go find her. I called her twice by name and kitty and in a few minutes she came over and hopped up onto my lap. After being here only 1.5 days! What a good kitten.

I am so happy now that we have a little snuggle bunny. I call her Emily Bunny sometimes but Matt doesn't like that. He says she is not a bunny and shouldn't be called one. But I like it. So she's my little Emily Bunny. I also call her Poopie... a nickname she received after using the litter box for the first time. I clapped too. I figure if praise works when potty training a child, it should work in the case of a kitty. We'll see. Like I said, so far no accidents!

She is literally the perfect kitten for us. I never would've guessed we'd have a black cat, but it was always Matthew's wish. And she is perfect.
