Good Afternoon World!
I am on my last lunch break of the work week. Thankfully, these work weeks keep flying by! I actually rather enjoy my job (most days). It has been very slow the past two weeks though. Not a lot of inbound calls so we're stuck calling the same people day after day. Of course they're going to get frustrated that we keep calling. And about the fifth person who reaches them gets chewed out. I spoke to one of my co-workers about it after I was on the receiving end of a nastier call and that co-worker prayed about it in our morning huddle (team meeting). Since then, I have not taken those calls personally and tried to assist the students in any way I can even if they are not being very pleasant. A definite answer to prayer and a blessing to my day.
Our friends Jon and Andrea are coming to stay with us for the weekend! So much fun! We haven't seen them since we visited their home in North Carolina for the fourth of July. We were hoping to have many visits together while we're both in the south, but alas, they are moving back home to Michigan in the new year. Good for them, sad for Matt and I. But this weekend should be fun. We're going to Roanoke to go shooting with the boys. Now that Matt has a hand gun their arsenal is complete! Not really, but Jon has a lot of guns... and now Matt has one of his very own. They should have a good time. Hopefully Andrea and I can do some shopping while we're out there too!
So I cleaned the house... last night! I don't know why I put everything off until the last minute. I worked until around 5:45 which means I didn't get home until 7:00! I had to go grocery shopping to have some options for this weekend. So I went grocery shopping and was starving by the time I got home. I popped in some Gilmore Girls while I put away the perishables, then ate some delicious dinner. I then proceeded to find places for all the snacks I bought. Basically every cupboard in our kitchen is stuffed full of goodies! I had to clean all the dishes as well. That didn't take long though. Apparently Matt and I have only been eating cereal, soup, or take out for the past few days. I organized our new table (yes, we finally got a new and better table that can comfortably sit 4 people!) and the kitchen was set. That only took until 8:00. Then I tackled the second bedroom. I don't think Jon and Andrea will stay in there, but they can if they would like. I organized it differently (for the umpteenth time) and it looks so much better now! Everything looks neat and organized and there is a nice big open space in the middle of the room. If Jon and Andrea bring their kitty with them then we'll let the kitties have that room. Litter box, food, toys, it's a kitty playground! That took another hour. Then I had to take out all the trash... which was a lot. We had the boxes and junk from the table. Some other boxes that we randomly sitting in our second bedroom. And three bags full of all the cleaning supplies I used! I scrubbed the bathroom like never before. It smells so nice now! And organized the bathroom closet so Jon and Andrea can put their stuff in there as well. It'll be nice when we have a second bathroom. And then I was basically done. I had just crawled into bed when Matthew got home at 11:45. Since I work early that probably wasn't a wise choice. Yesterday at work I started to fade around 1:00. I didn't feel that exhausted but I could have easily fallen asleep at my computer. It was slow too which didn't help matters. So today I went and got a grande vanilla latte. Let's pray it doesn't hurt my stomach. Sometimes coffee does weird things to me. Hopefully it'll just act as a delicious pick me up for the rest of the day.
I can't believe we're already one week into November! What on earth happened to October? My favorite month! But I am glad work is going by quickly. The more quickly it goes, then the more quickly Matt and I will get our master's degrees, and the more quickly baby time will come! Hopefully it will continue in this fast track.
I recently read The Kite Runner. I wasn't sure how I'd feel about it, but I had heard extremely good things about it from everyone who had read it. I have joined their ranks. It is easily one of my top five. Well, maybe top 10. I have a lot of favorites. Let's see: The Count of Monte Cristo, The Princess Bride, 1984, To Kill a MockingBird, Ender's Game, Ender's Shadow, Anne of Windy Poplars, Emma... so yes, top 10 definitely! I highly recommend it. I plan on reading A Thousand Splendid Suns by the same author soon. I am currently reading Mansfield Park. Then I will have read all of Jane Austen's novels... but I plan on re-reading Pride and Prejudice since I haven't read it in a couple years and Emma... a favorite.
Lunch time is almost done. My AD just told me I had 100% dialer utilization yesterday... and I was dedicated dialer. You probably don't understand that sentence much... but it's a good thing! Makes me feel like I'm doing something right.
Have a great weekend all!
