October is my absolute favorite month. I had always dreamed of an autumn wedding, but once you're engaged you don't want to postpone the wedding any longer than you have to! So a nice summer wedding it was for us! But today, October 4 has long been my favorite day of the year. It is generally the prettiest day of the year and this year was no exception. The weather is just right, the leaves have just begun to change, there's a nice breeze and the crunch of the fallen leaves underfoot. Beauty. So happy October!
Week one with the new job is done. I won't go into many details about it because, quite honestly, I haven't been overly positive about the whole situation yet. I still miss the preschool and haven't fallen into a good rhythm at my new job yet. It will all come though. While I'm at work I actually have been enjoying it. It will be an interesting job and once I start on the phones it will be pretty repetitive so I'll hopefully get the gang of it quickly. The drives to and from work haven't been so pleasant though. I'm usually very sad. It also doesn't help that my husband has been working evenings during the week so he's gone by the time I get home. It is all for the best though. And I am very thankful for this job.
I painted my toenails a deep wine red color tonight. Very autumn feeling. Much more appropriate than the light peach I had been sporting. Mmm, I love autumn!
Yesterday Matthew and I went to Roanoke for the afternoon for some fun and shopping. It was supposed to be to buy work clothes for me and help me feel better about the whole situation. Sigh. Matthew bought his birthday present early. Yes, we are now "proud" owners of a Glock 17 handgun. I'm not too thrilled with the idea. He's very excited. We then headed to the mall to see what we could find. I only wear pants or jeans from The Gap. They fit me best, are the most comfortable, are affordable, and last for a good long while. I have discovered that I own no khakis, except one pair of off white cords that do not match everything and are too warm to wear before late autumn. I had a nice pair... Until the got all bleach stained. Well, our gap in Lynchburg closed so we have to venture to Roanoke. Apparently the store in Roanoke isn't too worried about stocking basics. The store was actually quite empty. Very disappointing! I bought one skirt for work, but still no pants. I couldn't find anything I needed at other stores either. And the candy apple store closed! Yes, it was a defeat. I ordered two pairs of khakis online, and it is probably better that way since the online store offers petite sizing, but it is still discouraging non the less. I have to wait for them to arrive plus I have to pay shipping. It was not a fun day for me.
Good gracious, I'm tired and it's just barely past 8! I have been waking up at 5:45 to get ready for work, pack a lunch, and for the commute. But still, 8 is a ridiculous bedtime! I have a few more housewifey chores to do before bed, but I have been going to bed extremely early this week. Oh the life of a working woman.
