Our refrigerator and pantry are bare. Only little snacks and side items available for the very hungry Ivesons. Tomorrow I'm hitting the grocery store and stocking up on everything. Plus I've been going through and tagging my cookbooks with recipes I'd like to try out. So lots of cooking necessities added to our cart. And lots of fruit. Now that spring has sprung full blast the fruit looks great. Nice and ripe and worth the price. It's going to be a good shopping trip.
While taking Peter to soccer practice we passed lots of dog walkers. I want a dog. Two dogs. My Ender and Valentine puppies that are going to cost the same as our future down payment on our first home. But they'll be so worth it. With the weather being this nice I've loved taking afternoon walks. I wish I had a furry friend to walk along with me. We could get one dog with our tax refund and my next paycheck, but I think the Halfords would notice if we suddenly had a huge German Shepherd in our apartment. We couldn't keep him muzzled all the time. Well, we'll move in a year and maybe have the time and space for a pup. Or we could wait another few years until we settle in to a house with a yard. Either way, I can't have my pup now. Sad. But my kitten is good enough. Shame she's an indoor cat and a cat, therefore she doesn't go on walks period. But I still love her probably more than most people love their pets.
We have a new child in our class. All I can say if God must be teaching me and preparing me for something. No specifics obviously, but I have learned so much about teaching the past two days that I don't think I would've learned otherwise. Just another step towards my own class for next year hopefully. But enrollment isn't as high as expected so maybe I'll just assist another year. Either way I'll get a raise and more hours so I'm not really worried about it. I'll really miss the kids from this year though. It's amazing how attached you can become in just 9 months. Teaching has been so fulfilling and I am so glad I took this job. I was so nervous about it when I started because I didn't think I was interested in childcare. God sure knew what he was doing, as always.
My parents offered to pay our gas for our trip home in June. They always do things like this. The last time they came to visit my mom had to send me away at checkouts because I was getting so distressed over how much they were spending. My parents are some of the most generous people I know. I used to think I was entitled to their money. Even in college I had trouble breaking free from Daddy's cedit card. I'm so thankful that God worked in my heart before marriage so now I don't ask for financial help from my parents and I truly truly appreciate their gifts. I have also learned what a joy it is to be independent from them. I enjoy paying our bills and knowing that we're making it on our own. True, the reason we have no college loans to pay or car payments to stumble over is completely due to both sets of parents, but it's nice to stay debt free in our first year. And our parents really do spoil us rotten. Both sets. Matt's parents are so helpful and generous too. I know we'll never want or need for anything. If we ever get in a financial rut I know they'll offer to help out. But we'd still try to work our way out of it. This is starting to be rambling so I'll move on.
Matt and I have been trying to drink more water. A doctor he works with said he didn't think we had a great enough intake and that might be why we are always so tired. So we've been drinking a lot more water and a lot less everything else. I still have to take a nap in between jobs. We'll see if continued water intake helps in the long run. Speaking of sleep. I feel exhausted now. I took a nap this afternoon that wasn't quite long enough. Maybe I'll get ready for bed and read until I fall asleep.
Happy dreaming.
