What a wonderful visit with my parents. Matthew and I are so blessed by both of our parents. They are both so generous and helpful to us. I don't know how we could've gotten up on our feet without their help and support.
So my parents arrive on Monday. They stopped by before I went to nanny to say hello. When I was done nannying we went to Logan's for steak dinners. Matthew and I haven't had steak in... I don't even know when the last time was! It was so delicious. We came home after dinner and showed them our honeymoon pictures and just caught up. I talk to my parents pretty much every day, but there was still so much to catch up on!
Tuesday I took work off from both jobs. I have such wonderful employers. It was so nice to have the whole day to spend with them. Matthew had the day off work too, so it was the perfect time for my parents to visit. We woke up early and went to IHOP for breakfast. Needless to say, we didn't even need lunch later. Then we hit the ground running for shopping! My mom and my favorite! We dropped my dad off at Best Buy and Barnes and Noble and ran a few errands. We went to various places and spend pretty much the whole day shopping and barely fit everything into the car. Here's the amazing list of our new inventory:
*The perfect Christmas tree: to be set up tomorrow
*red, ivory, and gold ornament sets
*little globe lights for the tree: I like these so much better than the normal Christmas lights
*a star tree topper and a gold tree skirt
*an amazing kitty dish and pooper scooper: we're waiting on the litter box until we see how big our kitty is. We looked for a kitty but there were none that we just right. I wanted a few of them but Matt put his foot down. In the end I suppose it will be better for us to wait and get the perfect Russian Blue kitten, even if we have to wait until April!
*enough groceries for the rest of the month! all healthy food too!
*some new blouses for me (I'm trying to phase out my old high school clothes and get more professional dress), the warmest hoodie I've ever owned, and a new pair of house slippers that are the same style as my old ones but made better so they'll last longer
*some snowflake candle holders to go on our coffee table... favorites
*three Karen Kingsbury books for me!
*a new address book since most of our addresses need updating with people graduating from college and moving all over the place
*lots of kitchen and bathroom wares in bulk! We won't be needing hygenic things in a long time!
*a new black book shelf for the box of books we haven't had room to unpack yet. It will also make a great entry way "table"
*three new cups to replace the one we broke and so we have spares in case it happens again
*a new dish for our keys, matches our living room better and isn't made of plastic!
*two new rugs since all our floors are wood and are loud and often dirty
*a new broom since I hate bending over to clean with our wrist broom
*new gloves for me
and the big one,
*a new monitor for Matthew's computer for his birthday! It does look nice, I admit
I'm sure I left out some little things here and there, but that's the big stuff. I'm so excited. It's been so fun rearranging the house to accomodate our new things. I'm so excited to decorate the tree tomorrow. It will be so beautiful! Thankfully, Matthew and I have similar tastes in our decorations. We both like simple and elegant. And we don't like too much color.
It was a great day. We ended it by going to the Depot Grille. Matthew and I had never been. They have the most amazing pasta! We're definitely going back!
Work this morning was good. The kids wondered where I had been yesterday. It's nice to be missed. I really do love our class. We have such wonderful kids.
Now I'm just waiting around until I have to go nanny. I'm excited to make a delicious dinner for my husband with all the groceries we have. Good food is always a plus.
Happy almost winter!
