Thanksgiving week is upon us already! Matthew and I have no big plans. Our families really wanted us to come home for Thanksgiving and Christmas and even offered to pay, but we kind of like the idea of doing our first year solo. I want to try my hand at making a Thanksgiving feast, which will be so much more less embarrassing when it's only Matthew and Emily eating my copkings. Although, I have several new recipes to try and am very excited. We're having chicken instead of turkey though, neither of us cares for turkey. Too dry. And ham is for Christmas so we're saving it.
We have decided to keep dry cat food out for Emily, but also feed her small portions of our meals. I read some articles on different cat foods and as long as I make her balanced meals, human food is find for her. She seems to enjoy all the food she's tried so far. She likes to sneak in sips of mommy's drink and steal pieces of food out of daddy's bowl without our boycing though. Good thing Matt and I don't think she has germs! She's a perfect kitten really. She needs to learn some better table manners, but if we feed her part of our meals from the get go then that shouldn't be much of a problem anymore.
I am nannying right now for the only time this week. That's what I'll miss about getting an office job next year (hopefully). School holidays give me a nice relaxing break. So peter and his parents are going to new jersey tonight for the week. I have school tomorrow which will be a breeze. One girl has a birthday so we have a special snack for her. And then we have our Thanksgiving Dinner brought in by the parents. A party day through and through! And today we had a pizza party for buying the most books at the book fair. A great week. Then I'm done for the week. I definitely need to catch up on some sleep. I'm finally starting to feel better after feeling ill for 3 weeks. Matt is better today too after having a sinus infection for a week. And Emily is settling in so she's letting us sleep instead of waking is up at all hours of the night because she's lonely. So a nice restful week will be very nice indeed.
I'm making up my Christmas list so my family knows what to get me and my husband knows what to get me. I'm so surprised because I really can't settle on anything I need. We're buying a new flatscreen TV so contributions towards that would be nice, but besides some books I have everything I need. What a good place to be in life. And I am quite content. I love it.
I'm meeting Kristin for coffee when I'm done nannying. We still need to officially update each other on life since she got back from Ethiopia with her three new siblings! What an amazing story of God's grace that is. A home for three teenagers who had almost given up hope. And to one of my best friends families. Amazing. So she has lots of stories from Africa and about her new siblings adjusting to life in Michigan. And I have stories about... Well, my kitty pretty much!
Only anothe half hour. Peter is playing on the computer right now and I have a headache so I can't concentrate on my book. So here I sit. Only another half hour.
