Twas the week before Thanksgiving and all through the dorm
Everyone was reading, typing, printing galore
The hustle and bustle to get everything done
So Thanksgiving Break could one of rest and of fun
Not half bad for just making that up off the complete top of my head as I sit here typing. I used to like poetry. Not stupid greeting card poetry such as above, but serious poetry. I like reading it. So I started writing it. It was cathartic. A good way to get out all of my emotions. Maybe I should start it up again. Poetry and songwriting. Maybe even start another book. I've started hundreds of books before, but never finished one. I could never think up an original enough idea. And if I can't find my own idea then I definitely won't steal from other authors. I hate that. Something for me think about though, starting up poetry again. But photography has kinda taken it's place... and that's even been dead. Hopefully not for much longer! I hope to get a new camera lens for my Canon over break! Keeping the fingers crossed on that one!
My biggest project ever is almost complete. My FACS 365 portfolio project. Monster of a beast and not fun at all. Well, that's a lie. If I wouldn't have procrastinated until last week to start on it, then it probably would've been quite enjoyable. One of the projects included is to develop a yearly advertising plan for a day care center. It made me remember why I wanted to go into advertising when I first started college. That and the latest edition of Harper's Bazaar. Why again did I switch majors?
I babysat today for the Killmons. And I got a little piece of news that I'm trying not to get too excited about. Mrs. Killmon helped me land my internship this past semester. Amazing. She was asked to serve as a spiritual mentor for the girls in the Godparent Home. But she doesn't think it's a job just anyone can do. She is going to suggest that they hire a staff members at the home for this position. If they think it is a good idea and they have the funds necessary to create this new position (remember, the Home is funded strictly on the ministry and donations) then she's going to recommend me for the job! Which would work out so perfectly. I could work their MWF next semester and continue on full time after I graduate. Since the ministry is a branch of Thomas Road/ Liberty it will pay for my tuition for grad school. Everything would work out so perfectly. We'll just keep praying the position opens up! I'm not sure I would be the most qualified for the position, but I would definitely love working one on one with the girls and also with them as a group. I would also help coordinate volunteers like Mrs. Killmon who could also mentor the girls spiritually. I really really want this position. I hope it opens up so I can fight for it.
Other than that, I am just getting all my classes in line so I can have a nice relaxing Thanksgiving Break. I'm packing up my bags for vacation. And I'm leaving Friday afternoon with some great friends to road trip it up to Ann Arbor. I'll stay there a couple nights then my parents will come pick me up for the rest of the week.
Oh Thanksgiving Break. What a wonderful thought.
Cheers.
