Happy Thanksgiving. And what a Thanksgiving it was. Lots of food. Enough for two families actually. I don't know what my mom was thinking. It turned out to be a good thing though. We had some unexpected visitors who needed some yummy food in their tummies. Good thing, we didn't know what we were going to do with all that extra food.
I have decided that I really like washing dishes by hand. It helps de-stress me and it's good for my skin. I like it. I just don't like drying. So as long as I have a good drying rack it will work out well. Or lots of dry towles handy. I went through two today on our second load of dishes alone.
Mabsy is coming over! So excited. Haven't seen her since summer. It should be just what I need. A nice break from everything. Life. De-stressor right there. Nothing like good friends, the best of friends to help take your mind off of your troubles. Not that I have many major struggles, but the few I do have... well, ya know.
What am I thankful for? Well, that could end up being a rather lengthy list.
1. I am thankful for Calvin Bruce Cripe. I am thankful for all of nephews and nieces, but today Calvin was my friend. He gave me hugs when I wasn't having such a good time and he played games with me. He's a good friend to have. Anyone would be lucky to be friends with Calvin Cripe.
2. I am thankful for technology. As crazy as it sounds, I am thankful for facebook and text messaging, and blogger! Such, I may get fed up with technology at times and I think we're going too fast for our own good, but I sure like being able to communicate with my friends whenever I need to. It sure is better than having to randomly bump into them to tell them something. I miss my friends. I miss my Mabsy when I am at school and I miss my K and S when I am at home and I miss Stephonie all the time. So I am thankful for technology that allows me to communicate with them instantly.
3. I am thankful for Christy Miller. She always makes me smile and is something for me to do on vacation. I hope I never get sick of her 12 books. It reminds me of a simpler life. A simpler time. Jr. High and early highschool. Life was so fun and carefree in those days, and I definitely did not take advantage of it.
4. Pens. I am thankful for pens. May seem silly, but i have found myself with a lack of pens this break. I must have just forgotten to pack them. So I am thankful for pens. They are mighty handy when you want to journal or write letters or jot down a note to yourself for later.
5. Slippers. My mom bought me a new pair of slippers on Monday with a buy 1 get 1 free sale. I love them. They are so comfortable and warm. Just what I need. Great for wearing around the house. They will be perfect for wearing around the dorm.
6. Matthew. I am so very thankful for Matthew. My sister and her husband have been having some troubles lately. It makes me appreciate Matthew even more. I am so happy with him. He is everything I want and need and I cannot wait to start out lives together. He is prety much amazing and I am so thankful I have found him. I re-read some of the Matt books last night (only the good parts) and raided the Matt box. Lots of good memories. I knew he was the one way before he knew I was the one. But he said, "I love you" first.
7. I am thankful for my Mabs. She is pretty much the most amazing friend anyone could ever ask for. I do not know how she has stuck with me throughout the years, but she has and I am so thankful for her in my life. She is my best friend and I hope I can be a great friend for her someday in return.
8. I am thankful for my grandpa and grandma. They are in town because my grandma just had surgery on her knee. Both of them are getting older and it makes me sad to think of the time when they will no longer be with me. I hope and pray they will stay in good enough health to be able to come to my graduation and my wedding. I also pray they will be able to hold my children someday. They have led good long lives and have blessed me greatly.
9. I am thankful for the rest of my family. Even though we fight an awful lots and disagree about stupid things (a houseful for four women and one quiet male... lots of things to bicker about) I have an amazing family. I have been so blessed to be a Bonnell. It's weird to think that in 6 short months I'll not longer be a Bonnell, but I'll then be an Iveson. I am also thankful for my future in-laws and extended in-law family. I couldn't ask for a better family to be marrying into. I have been so blessed.
10. Most importantly of all, I am thankful for my Jesus. Because of him all the above are possible. I would have no need to be thankful without my Jesus. I would probably have a sad and miserable existence with no purpose. I would hate everyone and everything. I would probably have killed myself (or someone else) long ago. I am so thankful for my Jesus and his protection and for his enduring love for me. He has rescued me from the pits of hell. He has rescued me from sadness and hate. He has rescued me from myself and what I could have been. He has given me eternal life. He has given me love. He has given me hope. He has taught me how to make it through the day. I love him. He is my everything. And I am so blessed to have Him in my life. I love Him because He first loved me.
Happy Thanksgiving.
