Have you ever seen a SUV speed down an old country dirt road? The fallen leaves swirl in the aftermath leaving behind he footprints of the raging monster. The swirling leaves are what get me everytime. Such a beautiful and elegant design. But too often people miss it because they are stuck in the racing vehicle fast approaching its destination.

We are so often entangled in our lives that we forget to stop and enjoy the beautiful landscapes. We applaud Monet for his brush strokes... but how often do we stop and applaud the Lord for the marvels he creates new every morning. Never were two days the same. Never did the flowers of the field hold the same hue or the dancing trees clap the same green leaves. Each and every day is a new masterpiece. God puts little details in all of his creation. And so often we are too busy running to the next appointment that we forget to stop and appreciate the beauty.

I love watching the leaves dance. What makes them laugh at us so? Why makes them smile and giggle? What makes them ever so happy even in the storm that rage against them? They were made by their Creator. They are loved. Special time and attention was given to their every ventricle. And they bring praise to the Father for they know they were made by him.

I am a daughter of the king. He loved me enough to give me life and make me individual. He loves me. He always will. And so often I cannot stop and admire the beauty he has put into my life and the simplest things. What if the sky were not such beautiful shades of blue and grey and yellow? What if the grass was not such a brilliant shade of green? What if daffodils were all muted and drowsy instead of being a perky yellow or pure white with every red speckle placed just right? Life would be so boring without the artwork the Artist has framed in our lives. And we hardly ever thank him.

I thank you, My Lord, for the beauty of my days. For the wonder of my surroundings. For giving me sight and time to explore these things and appreciate them. Thank you, Lord, for the many little details. They make all the difference in the world. We need not journey over the rainbow, the rainbow must journey to us. Thank you, Lord, for the colors and the tones of this world.

Life if Beautiful
