Last night I didn't feel like thumbing up a post on the blackberry. So I waited till tonight when the husband creature was at work so I had full usage of the computer. And yes, that does mean I'm too lazy to turn on my laptop.
Work yesterday was... well, ridiculous. Without going into too much detail, our phones weren't working for awhile so we couldn't take calls or make calls. When they were working we couldn't transfer to other departments. ASIST was down for everyone so we couldn't register students for classes, they couldn't view anything or complete their financial check-in, and we couldn't even view the course listing for next semester to give suggestions. Our program that we view and update students accounts was down for repairs so we had a fake one that we could view only and if we tried to make any changes to it... well, it broke. So we had to make all our comments in an excel file and possibly on Monday try to go through manually and update those while taking calls at the same time. We could only use the admissions dialer since we couldn't view or register courses... which means I was trying to give information that I was not thoroughly proficient in. Sometimes things would be working fine... for about 15 minutes and then everything would crash again. Our communicator between departments wasn't working so not everybody was getting updates and people were doing the wrong tasks for about an hour at a time, me included. And we sat around in a conference room while our programs were supposedly fixed and discussed our most memorable Christmases.
We all wanted them to close the office since everything was going nutty. But of course, we didn't. If I had any personal days accrued I would have taken one. A lot of people chose that option. But as for me, I was forced to stay the entire work day. Sigh.
Today was a good day so far. Matt and I woke up earlier than normal for a Saturday and went to the gym. I enjoy going to the gym first thing in the morning. But when I'm already waking up at 6:45 weekday mornings for work anyways, I don't want to wake up earlier than that for the gym. I typically spend 1.5 hours at the gym and then take an hour to shower and get ready for the next activity after that. That means I would need to wake up by 3:45 in order to leave for the gym and have enough time before work to get everything done. The gym isn't even open that early. I feel great now though. I'm finally past the "just getting back into the gym routine" phase and it no longer kills me when I do my cardio. I'm feeling more alert, stronger, more flexible, and am starting to get rid of that belly bulge that is so uncomely.
We watched a few episodes of LOST when we returned while we ate and Matt got ready for work. A brief nap and I was alone again. Sigh. I hate us having differing schedules. I was initially supposed to work from 10-6 today but the office closed for those updates, thankfully. I don't know how I would have handled another long, seemingly pointless work day.
I finished Twilight. Like I said, I knew it would be a fast read since people who are slow readers read it in a few days. It was the style of the writing that made it go by so quickly. I'll put together my thoughts and write a nice little review tomorrow... or sometime soon, the next time I post. But I will say this: It wasn't as bad as I thought and overall wasn't a bad plot. But...
