Yes, yes. Life has been quite grand the past few days. Rewind a bit to Thursday and I would have told you about my miseries. I just hadn't seen my husband in a while so I was feeling rather lonely and homesick... even while I was snuggly in our home. Since then life has brightened for a number of reasons.
I have been a top performer in my department for three days in a row. Hopefully that means that I'm catching on to my new job correctly and not that I'm doing something horribly wrong but getting in good numbers! I feel pretty good about my job though. It has even been fun some shifts! Even though it can be very frustrating at times, I generally feel like I've benefited at least one person by the end of the day. That's a good feeling.
Being at work and not being able to come home on my lunch hour (which I did every day at the preschool) has also helped my eating habits. I have slimmed down some because of my meal sizes I take with me to work. I had been feeling a little flabby because I had put off exercising in the evenings while I adjusted to my new schedule, but when I looked at myself I realized that some of my "pinchables" were "lessening". Adding in my normal workout routine helped firm me back up in now time. Definitely good news. Hopefully we'll be able to get a puppy next summer like we plan and it will increase my daily exercising with two long walks a day with puppy!
Today Matt and I spent the entire day together and have grand plans for the evening. We went and saw Law Abiding Citizen. It was different than I expected, but very thought provoking. Definitely more political than I expected, but with all the action and drama still made for a great flick. I was worried there a few times that the gore score would be raised... but they kept it pretty clean. Overall, I recommend it. And Gerard Butler is fabulous as always. A little extreme, but circumstances and all.
I almost bought a new winter coat... and I almost bought new Ugg boots. I decided to wait on both. We did manage to snag Batman, Batman Forever (the one we've been searching for everywhere and rented on the PS3... and it wouldn't work with our TV for some reason), The Kingdom, and Quantum of Solace on BluRay. All for less than an average BluRay costs. We're bargain shoppers! I also bought Full House Season 5 and Dodgeball Thursday to appease my loneliness. So I'm very happy media-ly right now.
Our toilet and bathroom sink were finally fixed by our landlords. After about a year of disrepair. They forgot about our bathtub issue, but we think we might have fixed that anyways. Plus, I found a great apartment/ home finder website for us to use next spring when we start looking for a rental house.
The cat has been such a good kitty lately. She loves to snuggle now since we don't see her as often. Hopefully she'll become good friends with the puppy so she won't be so bored. Hopefully... she could very well hate it. She has hated all other animal contact she's gotten in her short little life.
We have a surplus of money. We're being smart about it. We've awarded ourselves monthly allowances and stick the rest in savings. But it is nice to have. We have always lived extremely comfortable lives being able to dine out at least once a week and buying new videogames, movies, or books when we want. But now we can also buy some new clothes (we both want new winter coats) and a few more ridiculous items if we would like. We are also planning some fabulous vacations for the future, probably not until 2011 since we miss our families too much to send our vacation time elsewhere- but definitely pre-baby time! (which gives us about a six month window by my estimations...)
So yes, our lives have been good. God is good. He is so good to us even when we fail. Which is so often. Too often. Mel Gibson is coming out with a movie pretty soon where his daughter is killed and supposedly was a spy. We saw an ad for it today in the theatre. His character says something like "Are you the one on the cross or the one driving in the nails." Just something to think about. Interesting how we image ourselves in our minds.
Oh the Cleverness of HIM!
(speaking of which, Peter was one of those who imaged himself very highly... poor JM Barrie...)
