First week of work... complete! Long sigh. But still, next week I'll be just getting back from my lunch break right now with four hours still to go. Longer sigh.
Last night was Parent Orientation Night and this morning was Meet the Teacher for the kids. I have a wonderful class and great parents to work with! I really was blessed. I have three students from last year that I know well. The other five are new students, but so sweet. I have four girls and four boys total which will make play time nice. In my class last year we ended up having three girls and seven boys... so sometimes one boy or girl was left out. Not a happy situation. The kids seemed to enjoy the variety of toys I had in my classroom. I might add some more to different centers as the year progresses and I know the kids' interests and personalities better. I have one child who is French and speaks no English! Some English words are familiar, like sit or stand, but it will be interesting the first few weeks of school. The child is super sweet and seems very excited to be in school. I hope we can communicate and understand each other as the year progresses. I am very excited to start school and have all the kids get to know each other and hear all the funny things I'm sure they're bound to say!
My sister, Lisa, is getting a new foster baby girl tomorrow! Her name is Brooklyn! I don't know any details about her or the situation yet but I am so excited for them! Brooklyn was born yesterday so she'll be just three days old when Lisa and Ryan get her! My mom and Lisa are going crazy shopping today because they just sold all their old baby things! I wish I were home to meet the baby and hold her! I hope everything works out well for them. My sister and her husband are part of the foster-adopt program. So they will foster Brooklyn with the hopes of adopting her if the parental rights are terminated. I'm not sure how long it will take to determine that. The sooner the better. They have been waiting for over a year in this program. Livy is super excited to have a sister! Noah wishes he had a brother, but I know he's excited for a new baby also. I will post pictures when I get them if that's allowed. I'm not sure what's legal or not in these situations. Pray that everything works out for the best and my sister doesn't fall in love with the baby if it's only a temporary placement. I'm not sure if I could foster newborns. I'd fall in love with every single one of them!
